Tilt Wall Ontario Chosen as Tilt-Up Contractor Of The Year
Tilt Wall Ontario was recently recognized for excellence in the tilt-up industry with two awards from the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA).
The company was named the 2018 TCA Contractor of the Year and received the 28th Tilt-Up Achievement Award for building the first tilt-up home in Ontario.
The Contractor of the Year award recognizes an individual or company whose work offers the very best examples of tilt-up construction. Nominees are judged on everything from craftsmanship to safety, customer service, and collaboration.
“It’s our objective to build lasting relationships and impact the lives of those around us in a positive way by training staff to become leaders, and by providing quality products and services to customers that exceed expectations,” says Tilt Wall Ontario co-founder Len Overbeek.
Founded in 2002, Tilt Wall Ontario faced an uphill battle introducing the tilt-up method to Ontario. Although common in many parts of the United States and on Canada’s West Coast, tilt-up was relatively unknown in the province. Today, tilt-up is no longer perceived as an alternative or fad thanks in part to Tilt Wall Ontario’s commitment to raising awareness about the method among members of the design and construction community.
“We are finding more and more projects coming out to tender designed as tilt-up,” Len notes. “Our four current projects along with numerous projects that are in the design stage testify to the growing acceptance of tilt-up as a way of building.”
Over the years, Tilt Wall Ontario has completed a wide range of tilt-up projects including schools, offices, warehouses, sport facilities, food storage and handling facilities, and livestock buildings, with building sizes ranging from 480 to 200,000 square feet.
In 2017, Tilt Wall Ontario received extensive news coverage for the construction of Ontario’s first tilt-up home, a groundbreaking project that was recognized with the 28th Tilt-Up Achievement Award.
This marks the fifth TCA Achievement Award for Tilt-Wall Ontario.
“We have been TCA members since 2002 and attended the conventions year after year,” says Len. “The support of the organization and peers in the tilt-up industry has helped us become what we are today.”
The Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) is the international nonprofit trade association for the global tilt-up concrete construction industry and was founded in 1986 by a dedicated group of contractors, professionals, and manufacturers with the interest of improving the quality and acceptance of tilt-up construction.
