Grace Christian School
Project Details
This independent elementary school in Dundas needed a new 35,176-square-foot facility that better met the needs of the growing community and the paradigm shifts of education.
Not only did Grace Christian School need to reduce its construction costs, since the charity is primarily funded by donations, but they also needed to ensure long-term savings over the life of the building. To further save money, the school chose to use a volunteer construction management committee, which resulted in challenges.
Fortunately, the simplicity and strength of casting and erecting the 116 tilt-up panels helped to ensure a smooth process. Thin brick was used on part of the exterior to give the school a traditional feel, while stained concrete was used in other places to give it a progressive feel.
By choosing tilt-up construction from Tilt Wall Ontario, Grace Christian School saved approximately 15% over traditional construction methods, and is saving approximately 30% per year on energy consumption.
