Grace Christian School

Grace Christian School in Dundas needed a new 35,176-square-foot facility to better serve its growing community and evolving educational needs. With funding primarily sourced from donations, the school faced the challenge of reducing construction costs while ensuring long-term savings over the building’s life. To further cut expenses, the school opted for a volunteer construction management committee, which presented additional challenges but also offered an opportunity for more cost control.

To streamline the process, the school chose tilt-up construction, which proved to be both simple and efficient. The 116 tilt-up panels were cast and erected with ease, ensuring a smooth construction process. The building’s exterior features a blend of traditional and modern design elements, with thin brick used on parts of the facade to maintain a classic look, while stained concrete in other areas lends a more progressive feel.

By selecting tilt-up construction from Tilt Wall Ontario, Grace Christian School achieved significant savings, cutting construction costs by approximately 15% compared to traditional methods. Additionally, the building’s design yields long-term savings, with an estimated 30% reduction in annual energy consumption, further benefiting the school’s budget and sustainability goals. This forward-thinking approach not only met immediate financial needs but also set the school up for continued success in the future.
