Half Moon Bay
Project Details
Half Moon Bay, situated at 989 Kilbernie Drive in Nepean, Ontario, demonstrates the efficiency and versatility of tilt-up construction in educational architecture. Completed between 2022 and 2023, this project was undertaken by Frecon Construction Inc. and designed by N45 Architecture Inc.
With a substantial footprint spanning 40,000 square feet, Half Moon Bay integrates 89 panels, the largest covering an impressive 1,127 square feet. Tilt-up construction not only provides practical benefits but also showcases its capacity to seamlessly incorporate various architectural features.
A standout advantage of Half Moon Bay’s tilt-up construction is its structural resilience. With panels weighing up to 123,000 pounds, the building is engineered to withstand diverse environmental challenges, ensuring a secure learning environment for students and staff.
Moreover, tilt-up construction enabled efficient space utilization, dedicating 30,750 square feet to insulated panel areas, promoting optimal energy efficiency and reducing long-term operational costs and environmental impact.
Finished with brick, the panels of Half Moon Bay blend aesthetic appeal with durability, requiring minimal maintenance and offering significant long-term cost savings. As a testament to innovation and durability, Half Moon Bay exemplifies the practicality and sustainability of tilt-up construction in educational infrastructure.
