King Christian School
Project Details
The privately funded King Christian School is a great example of how tilt-up construction can build a 30,500-square-foot school with efficiency and economics at its core.
With tilt-up, the construction schedule was simplified and cut. While the 122 tilt-up panels were being constructed on a casting slab, work on the school foundation and services commenced. Immediately following the completion of the slab on grade, panels were erected and steel joist installment commenced. Construction began in late August and was closed in by Christmas to prepare for the next year of students in September.
Not only was tilt-up a more economical way of building, but the highly energy efficiency of tilt-up panels reduced their projected energy consumption by about 30%! The durability of the concrete will contribute to low maintenance costs, while the building will maintain its strength and beauty for years to come.
