Muskoka Bay Resort
Project Details
Muskoka Bay Resort’s five-storey, 62-suite hotel started construction in 2019 and was completed in the summer of 2020, now sitting perched atop a cliff overlooking the resort’s golf course.
As with any new construction project, there were many challenges to solve. Construction during winter in Ontario would prove to be difficult, and as would be building a five-storey structure on the small jobsite footprint.
The client originally designed this project with cast-in-place concrete, but the contractor found a faster, more cost-effective, and better-suited method to overcome the limitations of the rocky site. Tilt Wall was able to provide a more economical solution, while also making concrete pours far less complex in the remote location.
Typically, Tilt Wall installs panels that are the height of the entire structure. However, in this case, that would have required panels that were 87’ tall! Instead, panels were installed one floor at a time using a Liebherr LG 1750 lattice boom crane.
Completion of the hotel at Muskoka Bay Resort happened in early summer of 2019, with 111,928 sq. ft. of panels erected.
