Overbeek Residence
Project Details
This six-bedroom, 2,900-square-foot home is indistinguishable from a conventionally built residence, but is the first residential tilt-up home in Ontario, Canada.
The customer is Tilt Wall’s own Len Overbeek, who wanted to showcase the many advantages of tilt-up construction, and use them in a residential home structure.
The concrete panels were poured on the home’s slab as well as a series of temporary casting slabs, many with formliners to give the exterior a thin brick vinegar and stucco look. The 39 panels were raised in a short time and the home was quickly finished.
The result of this project is a home that has 6 bedrooms and blends in seamlessly to its surroundings. The sandwich panels help to reduce temperature fluctuation, resulting in approximately 30% more energy savings than wood construction.
