Royal Canin Canada’s new manufacturing facility and laboratory was a highly complex build, requiring the installation of 155 tilt-up panels over the course of 2007 to 2009. Royal Canin had exacting standards, particularly for the interior finishes, and chose tilt-up construction primarily because of its exceptional durability and polished aesthetic appeal. Tilt-up panels provided a smooth and refined interior finish that aligned with the client’s vision.

The construction process was divided into six phases, with the most notable being the creation of the structural core stairwell. Originally planned to be poured in place, this component was redesigned and built using a combination of tilt-up panels and structural slabs, providing both structural strength and efficiency. Once the main floors had been poured and achieved the necessary strength within just five days, the 51-foot-tall panels were erected. This enabled the team to proceed with structural steel erection ahead of schedule, saving approximately four weeks on the overall timeline. The tallest tilt-up panel in the building rose to an impressive height of 83 feet above ground level, further emphasizing the scale and complexity of the project. Through innovative solutions and precise execution, the project was completed on time and met the client’s high standards.
