Algoma Orchards
Project Details
In 2008, Algoma Orchards built an 89,000 square foot apple processing facility designed to handle sorting, packing, and juice bottling operations. To meet the demands of this 24/7 agricultural facility, Algoma Orchards required a construction solution that eliminated bulky interior columns, improved energy efficiency, and delivered exceptional durability.
Tilt-up construction was selected for its ability to quickly erect load-bearing panels, significantly reducing the need for interior columns. The insulated exterior panels enhanced airflow and contributed to lower heating and cooling expenses. To create a welcoming atmosphere for customers purchasing directly from the facility, the exterior tilt-up panels were finished with paint and cultured stone.
The larger space enabled Algoma Orchards to increase its storage capacity to 1,000,000 bushels of apples sourced from more than 1,600 acres of orchards.
As the company continued to grow, the facility underwent major expansions. In 2015, an additional 40,000 square feet was added to further increase sorting, packing, and juice bottling capabilities. Most recently, in 2024, a fifth phase added another 46,000 square feet, further enhancing operational capacity to support the continued growth of Algoma Orchards.
